The agents of the State Police Command of Rivers, Monday 7 April 2025, shot tear gas to disperse the protesters in the state.
The demonstrators, who are members of the “Take It Back movement”, had converted to the Isaac Boro park in Port Harcourt, the capital of the state of the rivers, to protest against the emergency rule in the state and the alleged improper use of police crime by the police.
Some protesters said they had informed the police of their intention to organize the event in a letter dated April 3, 2025.
However, some of the demonstrators, including journalists who cover the event, were, according to the various reports in the media, beaten by the police officers.
