Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri on Sunday announced the results of some local government areas in the Edo State governorship election held on Saturday.
Fintiri, who is the Chairman of the PDP Edo National Campaign Council, made the announcement during a press conference held at the party situation room in Benin City, the Edo State capital.
He accused the General Elections Commission (KPU) of violating the Election Law, stating that the results it announced came from PDP agents who were not given access to the vote counting locations.
He said this raised questions about the transparency of the election process, and called on the KPU to follow its own rules and ensure the election results were counted fairly and transparently.

The Adamawa governor also read out figures from the party’s counting agency, dismissing claims that he was the one who announced the gubernatorial election results.
He said, “I did not announce the results, I only informed the public of the exact figures from the ongoing vote counting officers before the KPU stopped the process, so the KPU should be accused of violating the Election Law, not me.
“What we ask from the KPU is to follow their rules, the KPU is not authorized to announce the results or move the vote counting to the KPU head office. This is our position and we will consult again.”
