ADC accuses APC of acting like a terrorist organization

The African Democratic Congress (ADC), has accused the decision of all the Progressive Congress (APC), behaving like a terrorist organization after an attack on its members in a church place in the Alimosho regional government in the state of Lagos last week.

The attack on ADC members was reportedly regulated by thugs who were loyal to APC during the meeting attended by party leaders, including former candidates for the Labor Party Governor in the state, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, who officially expressed his membership from the opposition party.

The Secretary of the ADC National Publicity, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, who frowned in the attack on a statement on Sunday, said the political criminals who were believed to be sponsored by the ruling party invaded the place of the church, shed blood, destroyed vehicles and seized property.

He described the incident as the blasphemy of a new place of worship and the lowest in the alleged APC violence campaign against opposition.

“The invasion of a church premise by political thugs supported by the government is an act of deep blasphemy by an restless party that will not stop to silence the votes of opposition in the country,” Abdullahi said.

The statement warned that the lagos incident was part of a disturbing intimidation pattern in several countries in recent weeks.

“With this attack in a church, no one can predict how far APC under the President of Tinubu is willing to make a despair search to maintain power in all means,” said the party.

This quoted previous cases, including threats to its leaders in Edo, harassment in Kogi, closing private radio stations in Niger, attacks on meetings in Kaduna, and attacks on convoys of party leaders in Kebbi.

“If the churches and other places of worship are no longer deemed unorganized by APC thugs, then how does the party intend to prove to the world that it is indeed not a terrorist organization? Besides, attacking places of worship is what terrorists do,” Abdullahi added.

The party urged the Nigerian police to refuse to be used as the arm of the ruling party and remain loyal to the constitution and the people of Nigeria.

It called for the arrest and prosecution of the people behind the violence of Lagos and other attacks targeting ADC leaders throughout the country.

“The police have the task to ensure that justice is served quickly and transparently to the perpetrators of attacks in Lagos, Kaduna, Kebbi, and all states where ADC leaders have been threatened and attacked. Nigeria said, and the credibility of our institution was tried before the whole world,” Abdullahi said.

“APC resort to violence and intimidation is a striking recognition of its failure. Instead of presenting a track record of achievements to the people of Nigeria, APC wants to bulldoze its way to other elections by eliminating opposition. This is a sign of dictatorship.

“We will remain unaffected. We are committed to involving Nigerians peacefully, constructively, and bravely. But we will not fold our weapons while our leaders are attacked and our meeting is changed into a battle field. This must stop. And it must stop now,” said the party.
