The African Democratic Congress (ADC) launched the alarm for a desperate conspiracy to undermine and destabilize the growing opposition coalition in Nigeria.
This is contained in a declaration issued on Monday in Abuja by Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, secretary of the national interim advertising of the party.
Abdullahi said that former ADC State Presidents and key officials in the North-East and North-West were summoned to a secret meeting with the best government officials.
“We have a credible intelligence that the goal of this meeting is not national security or the construction of peace,” said Abdullahi.
He described the move as an attempt to cooperate these individuals in a plot manufactured against the opposition coalition.
“This is not political; this is a real sabotage,” said Abdullahi.
He said that the reason was to sow confusion, delegitimize the new leadership of ADC and to derail his growing momentum as the face of the opposition.
Abdullahi, who is also the national coalition spokesman, said that he was part of a wider effort to entrench the rule of a part.
He said that the coalition declaration of 1 July and on July 2 ADC clearly presented the party to power.
“The coalition is an idea whose time has come,” he said, declaring that the party belonged to all the Nigerians tired of lies and difficulties.
“It belongs to those who want to restore decency, vision and justice to governance,” he added.
He promised that the party would resist any attempt to impose a dictatorship with a party with all democratic means.
Abdullahi invited President Bola Tinubu to take note of the actions of some of his nominated and strengthen them.
He also urged the president to demonstrate to the Nigerians who remains engaged in democratic principles.
