The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the State of Anambra has threatened to challenge in the court of introducing the N50 Million Campaign Permit for the Governor Candidate by the State Government.
Anambra State Signage and Advertising Agency (AnsAA) on Wednesday ordered the Governor candidate for the November 8 election to pay the N50 Million Campaign Permit fee.
At least 16 candidates, including Governor Charles Soludo, have been cleaned for elections by the Independent National Election Commission (INEC).
But the Chairman of the ADC in the state, Patrick Obianyo, in a chat with journalists at AWKA, argued that the policy was targeted to weaken the political parties.
He insisted that the party would challenge action in court.
Obianyo said: “If the state government refuses to withdraw the plan, ADC will institutionalize legal action against him.

“Candidates for Governor of ADC will not make payments, because it is the same as intimidation and actions approaching democracy and opposition.
“This was never heard and unfortunately, the policy that came from the same soludo contested by the Governor in 2021 and never paid such money.
“How can political parties pay N50 million for ordinary t -shirts, hats and pamphlets?
“We witnessed this for the first time in Anambra, and people would not know why the Governor decided to have a linked to such policies.
“This is an indication that Governor Soludo is afraid of opposition.
“We have never heard of it. We say no for that. We are able to pay, but that is wrong, not constitutional, and not democratic, and we reject it.”
