Unity Cup: Tella returns to Super Eagles team, Zadok heads new names

Nigeria’s senior national team will participate in the season-ending Unity Cup tournament in London next month, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

Super Eagles will enter the tournament as defending champions after winning the last edition. They will begin their campaign against Zimbabwe for a place in the final against Jamaica or India, who will play the other semi-final.

Nigerian team coach Eric Chelle has decided to leave out some of his best players and will instead use the tournament to try out new players and also give playing time to fringe players.

We can exclusively reveal that Bayer Leverkusen striker Nathan Tella is in line to return to the team. His last appearance was in the tournament a year ago.

His form in the Bundesliga has given him another chance to impress the Chelle-led coaching team. Hamburg winger Philip Otele will also have time during the tournament.

Meanwhile, for new players Zadok Yohanna, who is currently the rave in Sweden, is expected to be on the list, with Chelle impressed by what he saw last weekend when he made his debut for AIK.

The decision on his inclusion will not be immediate, and sources say he is not the only new player on the coach’s radar, with Göztepe midfielder Anthony Dennis also on the list.
