Adeyinka suspended for the accusation of bets

The Premier Football League of Nigeria, NPFL, has suspended the goalkeeper of Plateau United Adewale Adeyinka for his alleged participation in betting activities.

The accusation was level against Adeyinka by Plateau United.

“We wrote to inform you about the immediate suspension of your registration as a player in the Premier Football League in Nigeria (NPFL). This is due to the ongoing investigation of the accusation of internal bets level by his club, Placeu United FC,” says a statement signed by the NPFL operating officer, Davidson Owumi.

“This has become necessary, since the information that has been reached indicates that he refused to sign a contract with a possible new club, because an immediate termination clause of the contract was included in case of betting implications.

“This has reinforced our conviction that the level -level accusation against him for his club, Plateau United FC, in the 2024/2025 NPFL season must be treated with the greatest seriousness and urgency.

“It must take into account that article 15.5, section B of the frame and NPFL rules prohibits all players from participating in bets and is punished with section C of the same rules.

“He will be invited to declare his defense about these accusations in due time as the investigation progresses. As a consequence of them, it was necessary to put their registration waiting.

“The restoration of your registration will be considered after the investigation and is not found to be informed that being involved in any type of bets in the games in which the integrity of the league decreases and leads the game to go to the rupture.”

Adeyinka joined the Kwara United club at the beginning of last season.
