Former coach of Tanzania men’s National team, Boniface Charles Mkwasa has hailed the decision of the CAF to award the hosting right of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations to the East African joint bid from Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya.







On Wednesday in Egypt, the CAF General Assembly concluded its 45th session with decisions reached over the hosts for the 2025 and 2027 AFCONs.

 

 

 

While Morocco was handed the rights for the 2025 tournament, CAF voted in a historic decision to award the tripartite bid of Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania – the first time three nations will co-host the AFCON.

Reacting to the success of the East African bid, Mkwasa told BRL, that hosting the tournament is a huge dream and opportunity for the region.

The last time the Cup of Nations was hosted by an East African country was 51 years ago.
