For years, students and teachers of the Polytechnic of Mosupo Abiola (Mapoly), Abokuta, have fought with irregular electricity that paralyzed the learning, research and life of the campus. That struggle could now facilitate, since the state government of Ogun has delivered two new transformers to the institution.
The Times platform reports that a heading declaration, Public Relations & Protocol “, Yemi Ajibola revealed that the Transformers – a capacity of 500kva/.415kv and a capacity of 300kva/.415kv – are part of the state intervention to end the chronic power challenges of the institution and restore it as a center of technology and innovation.
According to the declaration, for students, development is more than infrastructure; It is relief. Many argue that current interruptions interrupted digital learning, forced them to rely on expensive generators and has slowed down the research in workshops and seminars.
Ajibola in the declaration said, rector of the institution, Arco. Dr. ‘Koye Jolaoso, described the project as a turning point in the awakening of Mapoly.
“This is much more than electricity; it is a question of giving our students the tools to compete globally in technology and innovation. Governor inhabitu has given us hope keeping his promise,” said Jolaoso.
Management observed that the development has followed a recent commitment of the parties concerned with the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (Ibedc), which had committed itself to recommending lasting solutions to the Energy Crisis of Mapoly.
The governor Dapo Inhabitun, in his previous commitment, had assured that Mapoly would not be left behind in the plan of his administration to reposition the tertiary institutions of the Ogun state.
The staff and students claim not to wait for an uninterrupted power supply, which they believe will improve academic activities and improve the competitiveness of the Polytechnic.
