Akume to northern politicians: waiting until 2031, Tinubu deserves full support

The secretary of the government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, urged the presidential ambitions that breastfeeds the politicians of the North to set aside their plans until 2031, insisting on the fact that President Bola Tinubu deserves full support to complete his mandate and consolidate his development steps.

Akume made the call Tuesday during an interactive two -day session on the city’s city commitment held in Kaduna.

The event, organized by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation, focused on the evaluation of electoral promises and on the promotion of a strong civic commitment for national unity.

The SGF, which represented the presidency, used the forum to defend the Tinubu administration track record, claiming that the president had kept many of his country promises and created solid foundations for national growth and unity.

“President Tinubu has promised to govern impartially and so far he has kept this promise. He has positively touched every part of the country. It is necessary to encourage a performing leader so that he can do more,” said Akume.

By contacting the growing political agitations from parts of the North before the 2027 elections, Akume has warned against any move that could end the earnings obtained so far.

“I urge North politicians to wait until 2031 before aspiring for the presidency. It is not the time to distract a government that is clearly on the route,” he added.

The SGF listed the key results of the administration led by Tinubu, including the renewal of Nigeria’s security architecture, the revitalization of agriculture and the improvement of food safety through strategic interventions that led to a reduction in the prices of agricultural products.

He also accredited the president a growing tax capacity at the subnational level through the controversial removal of the subsidies for fuel.

“States now have more funds to perform significant projects and provide dividends of democracy to the people,” Akume observed.

The interactive forum has attracted participants from civil society, traditional institutions, groups of young people and public officials, who all approved on filling the gap of trust between the government and citizens.

Akume praised the Sir Ahmadu Foundation beautiful for the creation of a platform that encourages dialogue and political responsibility.

His call arrives in the midst of growing political realizes and thin campaigns in view of the next general elections, with some Northern politicians who are strategist for a return to power.
