Armed people suspected of being a shepherd in the early days of Tuesday killed 11 people in the Afia community, the area of the Ukum regional government in the state of Benue.
They also injured several other people in the attack. The latest incident one week after the shepherd killed 56 people in two LGA in the state.
Terkum, the Head of Iyorkyaa Kaave, confirmed the incident at the Security Council meeting in Makurdi.
He criticized the loss of life and property in the area.

Monarch said: “When I spoke to you, this attack began on Thursday at the logo and on Friday Agung has spread to several communities in Ukum. We are still counting dead people, recovering more corpses and many of our people remain lost.
“These people are different from the Fulani that we know and lived peacefully in the 1970s and 1980s. At that time, they would come during the dry season with their family and livestock.
“But what we see now is an armed man with AK-47, attacking our people in their sleep, and returning to occupy their home.”
