Amazon sent an offer to take over the US Tiktoks operation

American multinational technology company, Amazon, has reportedly submitted a last minute offer to take over social media platform operations, Tiktok, in the United States.

Although the source close to negotiations revealed that Amazon’s offer was not taken seriously by the main parties, reports claim that US national security issues encourage current negotiations.

The source said the most likely option was for US Hytedance investors to transfer their ownership to the new independent international tiktok business.

This development came weeks after the social media platform, Snapchat, owned by Snap Inc., stated that they benefited from the uncertainty about the future of Bytedance’s Tiktok.

Snapchat executive chief, Evan Spiegel, said that during the fourth quarter revenue call of Snap that the company, however, did not draw too many conclusions about increasing involvement in the platform due to uncertainty around Tiktok.

“We did not try to draw too many conclusions from several engagement elevators that we saw when [TikTok] Becomes dark for that short period of time. I will say that the whole environment of uncertainty benefits our business, “said Spiegel.
