The Ansar-UD-deen Society of Nigeria began its eleventh three-year national conference in Abokuta, in the state of Ogun, celebrating a remarkable 101 years of existence and revealing strategic plans to position the company for a greater impact in the next century.

The conference will also culminate in the election of new national officers to guide the organization of the organization.

“Islam and themed Muslims: responsibility and relevance in a pluralistic world”, the event has attracted 843 delegates, Islamic scholars and stakeholders from all over Nigeria and the diaspora to discuss the evolution role of society in education, faith and national education.

Speaking to a Briefing Stampa, the national president of the Ansar-UD-deen company, Alhaji (Dr.) Abdulrafiu Ademola Sanni, reiterated the company’s commitment to deepen his impact in various spheres.

He underlined the attention of the organization on Islamic propagation, digital expansion and the development of youth leadership.

“We will position Ansar-Ud-deen for a sustained relevance by deepening the wellness services, promoting interreligious harmony and modernizing educational institutions to face contemporary challenges,” he said

Dr. Sanni also revealed that the conference officially began on April 17 with courtesy visits to key dignitaries, including the executive governor of the state of Ogun, the Alake of Egba Land and the Capo Imam of Egba Land.

These commitments, he observed, underline the dedication of the company to collaboration and unity in promoting social progress.

A salient moment of the event will be the opening ceremony of April 18, in which the former Governor of the State of Lagos and former Minister of Works, Babaude Raji Fashola (San), will make a main speech.

In a significant educational development, Dr. Sanni has announced that Summit University, owned by the Ansar-UD-deen Society, has integrated artificial intelligence (AI) in its curriculum, making it one of the first Nigerian institutions to embrace the IA in all disciplines.

“Our university is evolving into an international institution because we have adopted the use of the AI.
“The summit is one of the first universities to introduce artificial intelligence in our curriculum. It does not matter the discipline, even if it is Islamic studies,” he said.

A key topic of discussion at the conference was the recurring discrepancy in the sighting of the moon, which often leads to differences in compliance with Ramadan and Eid in Nigeria.

The company reiterated the position according to which the Islamic leader in Nigeria remains the sultan of Sokoto, underlining the need for unity.

The head of the mission, the Sorcel Abdulrahman Ahmad, has plundered the controversy, affirming: “Each country has its principles of sighting of the moon because the moon does not appear at the same time all over the world. As such, Saudi Arabia cannot dictate Moon’s warning for other countries”.

The ahmad sheikh has also connected the differences in sighting the moon in Nigeria to the wider political landscape, ignorance and struggle for domain.

“The situation of the differences in sighting the moon in Nigeria reflects the political situation of the country, the widespread ignorance and useless struggle for power,” he said.

He also stressed that the Moon sighting committee in Nigeria includes representatives of all regions, including the South -ovest.

“The Moon sighting committee in Nigeria has members of all regions of the country, even of the south -ovest.

“We believe that Islam’s practice is not better in one region than in another. It is inevitable that we have clashes based on our cultural differences,” he added.

As the conference advances, the key activities will include a special jumu’ah prayer, a award ceremony for the merit that recognize individuals and groups that have contributed significantly to the company’s mission, to the presentation of the final relationships and the election of new national officers.

The Ansar-UD-deen company remains resolved in its mission to support Islamic values, advance and promote social development while entering its second century of existence.
