Former Nigerian national team basketball player and sports entrepreneur Kelechi Anuna proposed to Olympic gold medalist Chiaka Ogbogu in Milan, marking the union of two Nigerian-American athletes with illustrious global careers and a shared commitment to making an impact beyond sports.

The proposal, which took place on March 11, 2026, took place in Milan, where Ogbogu is currently competing at a professional level. Ogbogu, who hails from Ukpor in Anambra State, is widely regarded as one of the best middle blockers in the world in volleyball. She was part of the United States women’s national volleyball team that captured gold at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and has continued to perform at the highest level in international volleyball.
