APC Armando State Power to crush the opposition, undermine democracy – Nenadi Usman

The president of the National Guardian Committee of the Labor Party and the former Minister of Finance, Senator Nenadi Usman, accused the sentence of all progressives (APC) of deploying state institutions and public resources to suffocate the opposition, warning that these acts are equivalent to a deliberate subversion of the democracy of Nigeria.

Speaking at the Global Award of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and evening for dinner in Abuja during the weekend, Usman-Rasponed by his special councilor for the media, Ken Eluma Asogwa-delivered a criticism of a hauling of the management of the APC guide.

“From the emergence of the APC as a party to power, there has been a deliberate and relentless campaign to undermine the opposition,” he said.

“Tactics range from infiltration and co -option to the use of state institutions for harassment, intimidation and even judicial manipulation. This is not democracy. This is a masked domain as governance.”

The former minister said that the APC has mastered the use of state machinery to force members of opposition to compliance or defection, creating an irregular political play and suffocating alternative items in the country.

According to her, β€œa system that weapons state resources to sow discord within the rival parts is not engaged in free and fair competition, but one invested in authoritarian control.

The APC cannot in good awareness profess the commitment for democratic ideals while simultaneously works to destabilize opposition parties such as the Labor Party and others. “

He warned that Nigeria’s democracy is at serious risk if the opposition voices continue to be silenced and discredit, observing that a robust dissent is essential for democratic resilience.

β€œWithout a strong and functional opposition, we cannot say that we practice democracy, just a shadow.

“All over the world, opposition movements help to model resilient democracies. Yet here at home, we are witnessing the slow suffocation of the opposition items, not by chance, but from the design,” he said.

Usman, however, did not spare the opposition itself from guilt. He said that the internal divisions, the uncontrolled ambition and the autineflit injuries have also contributed to the weakening of the democratic resistance.

“I would like to be brutally honest: while external interference from the APC has played a role, it is not the only culprit.

“The opposition was too often accomplice in its weakening. No quantity of external sabotage can be successful if there is no internal decay,” he said.

He urged the opposition parties to abandon small rivalries and selfish agendas and instead undertakes to build a unified and credible alternative capable of offering true hope to the Nigerians.

“It is time to stop behaving like victims and start behaving like visionaries. Our role is not to complain about the state of the nation but to fight for its redemption,” he accused.

He also invited opposition leaders to go beyond rhetoric and provide concrete solutions to the challenges of Nigeria, including insecurity, economic difficulties and growing inequality.

“This country is not good to manage a system in which a party dominates without control. Even the APC, if it is wise, should understand that democracy does not die with a bang but with the silence of dissent,” he added.

Usman concluded by underlining that Nigeria’s future depends on the courage of the opposition to face the present, correct its course and offer the electorate a genuine and transformative alternative.

“Not only criticism, but conviction. Not only slogans, but substance. Not only ambition, but action.”
