APC Chairperson APC who was killed was killed after payment of N5M ransom

The Chairman of the Congress of All Progressive (APC) in the 5 area of Ondo Regional Government, Nelson Adepoyigi, was reportedly killed by kidnappers who kidnapped him last week even after the ransom of N5 million and food items were sent to them.

Adepoyigi was kidnapped by armed people at his residence along the Ifon-Wowo Road at Ifon, at the entrance of his agriculture with the kidnappers initially demanding the number of N100M after they contacted the family but the family could only collect N5M.

Development took a different twist when the kidnappers who were not happy with N5M, reportedly arrested the two men who took the money to them.

They are said to have contacted the family again and demanded a number of N30M to free the three victims but before the family could unite, the criminals were said to have shot the APC chief to die and released two other victims on Friday.

Chairman of Ose Lga, Hon. Barr. Clement Kolapo Ojo, who confirmed the development in a statement through his aide, Oluwaseun Ogunniyi on Saturday, said:

“While we are grateful that the two volunteers have now regained their freedom, it is very sad and very painful that Nelson Adepoyigi’s life is brutally cut by his kidnappers.

“All leadership and people from the Ose local government lamenting this tragic loss. We provide sincere condolences to the family, friends and political partners of the deceased.

“We are now at a critical intersection where security challenges have become a serious threat to the safety and freedom of our people. Only a few days before this incident, other residents who fled were kidnapped while parking their motorbikes.

“This brave kidnapping pattern, even at the gates of people’s homes, confirmed that unsafe had to take dangerous and unbearable dimensions.

“We urge our people to remain vigilant, immediately report suspicious activities to the nearest security post, and stand together when we work together to overcome this threat.”
