A head of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State of Ondo, Gbenga Eleduma, applauded the execution of the Minister of the Interior, dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
He described the two years in office for Tunji-Ojo as exceptional and transformational.
In a declaration on Sunday in Akure, Eleduma said that Tunji-Ojo redefined the leadership in the public service, significantly transforming the Ministry of the Interior and gaining recognition at national level.
He highlighted the minister’s reforms in Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), including the authorization of over 200,000 passport backgrounds within three weeks.
He also mentioned the introduction of non-contact biometric passports and the establishment of e-Passport centers in Europe and Canada.
These efforts, he said, have restored public trust in the NIS and has streamlined the services for the Nigerians at home and abroad.
Eleduma has also praised the deployment of E-Gates in the main airports of Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Enugu and Kano, who had improved borders safety and relieved the authorization of passengers.
He observed that Tunji-Ojo had extended the reforms to the correction services ensuring the release of over 4,000 prisoners through corporate partnerships that collected N585 million to pay fines.
The Stalwart APC added that Tunji-Ojo had improved internal security through initiatives such as the Marshal of the Civil Protection, which has increased mineral revenues from N6 billion to N48 billion.
He said the collaborations with the Ministry of Defense, the National Security Adviser (ONSA) office and the Department of State Services (DSS) have strengthened the coordination of national security.
Eleduma also praised the integration of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) under the Ministry, has improved staff well -being and presidential approval to recruit 30,000 people in paramilitary agencies.
According to him, the ministry has generated more than N6 billion in 2024 through services such as expatriate shares, marriage services and citizenship questions.
He said that Tunji-Ojo’s leadership had inspired hope, increased moral and set new standards in the governance of the public sector.
