A chief of the Congress of all Progressive Congress (APC), Adamu Garba, has raised concerns about the growth of dissatisfaction in the party and urged the President of the Tinubu Bola to be aware of the fake of painting a false picture of the country’s political and economic health.
Speaking in television politics Channels today on Tuesday night, former presidential candidates described the current situation in the ruling party as “far from good,” blaming what he called “flattery culture and rejection” around the president for deepening internal weaknesses.
“There are many sycophants around the president,” Garba said. “People tell him that everything is fine but everything is not good.”
Garba’s statement arose after the intensive political manueuvrings by the opposition elements, including the launch of a new coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which he settled as “Nasar birds who hoped to take mistakes in APC’s steps.”
The new resignation from Abdullahi Ganduje as the National Chair of the APC has exposed further divisions in the party, creating what Garba described as “an opportunity for opponents to exploit internal instability.”
He asked APC to embrace self -reflection and designate national leadership that is “honest, open to criticism, and be able to face internal challenges directly.”
“If we want to survive as a party, we must stop flattering ourselves. We must recognize our mistakes and build structures based on sincerity and competence,” he said.
Garba also reflects on the political emptiness left by former President Muhammadu Buhari, who died in July 2025. According to him, the influence of the Buhari northern support base had begun eroded before the 2023 general election.
“Buhari is no longer in voting in 2023, and the number shows it,” Garba said. “APC only collected 5.5 million votes in the north, down from 12 million consistent block votes used by Buhari to govern.”
He stressed that the party’s victory in 2023 was mostly caused by the existing political structure and the selection strategy, rather than the extraordinary groundswell from popular support.
Garba urged APC to start a strategic re -engineering process in Buhari’s absence, especially when the party prepared for the next election cycle. He warned that without a clear and honest review of internal dynamics and voter base, the ruling party was at risk of being defeated by more agile opposition groups.
“Naturally, there will be tension,” he said, “But now it is the time for APC to act with a look far ahead, transparency, and discipline.”
