Apologize for presidential problems for errors in the presidential appointment list

The Presidential on Thursday issued a public apology after a widespread criticism of the list of errors that detailed the promise of the meeting made by the President of Bola Tinubu since he served on May 29, 2023.

The list, which was released by special advisors to the President about the media and public communication, Sunday Dare, was intended to fight regional bias accusations in the appointment of the President.

The controversy was driven by a comment from Senator Ali Ndume (APC, Borno South), who, in an interview with Arise television, accused President Tinubu of violating the principle of federal character – constitutional guidelines intended to ensure fair representatives of various Nigerian regions.

In response, Dare published the details of the person appointed by the geopolitical zone, showing: 29 from southwest, 35 from northwestern, 25 from North Central, 24 from northeast, 22 from the south-south, and 16 from the southeast.

While the numbers seem to support a broader geographical spread, critics quickly mark a significant negligence in compilation.

Especially missing from the list are some of the main appointed people, including the Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, and the Financial Supervisor of Nigeria Immigration Services, Kemi Nandap. Both of them originated from southwest – the territory of Tinubu – gained further concern about unclear representations from the southeast and worsened the perception of imbalance.

When a counterattack increased, especially in all social media platforms, Dare acknowledged the supervision of the verified X (previous Twitter) grip. In a brief statement, he wrote:

“We have noticed a number of mistakes in the Tweet appointment list. We apologize. We will give you an updated list later. Thank you.”

However, apologies did not discuss why some of the most prominent appointed people were abandoned from the original list.
