Arbitration of the NNL Super Eight arbitration scandal: accusations of partiality, influence of the Spark outrage club

Generalized concerns have emerged about the integrity of officiating in the Playoffs Super Eight of the National League of Nigeria (NNL) in Asaba, especially in group A, presented by Barau FC, Doma United, Wikki Tourists and Yobe Desert Stars.

Accusations have emerged that suggest that some party officials may have been committed in favor of certain teams, which caused outrage among representatives and club fans. Particularly worrying are reports surrounding Mr. Anthony Eze of the FCT council, who officiated the Yobe Desert Stars vs Barau FC FC. His decisions during the game have been described by observers as blatantly partial.

Even more alarming is the case of Bashir Adamu of the Kaduna Council, who was initially scheduled to officiate the match between Wikki and Doma United tourists. After the protests, it was replaced, but since then it has been revealed that Adamu is supposedly on the payroll of Barau FC, serving as a club coordinator. This constitutes a direct conflict of interest and a serious violation of arbitration ethics.

These incidents run the risk of undermining the entire promotion and integrity process of the league itself. Football thrives in clean play, transparency and meritocracy: any deviation of these principles threatens to erode confidence in the system and discredit the efforts of the teams and players that compete in good faith.

There are even disturbing rumors that Barau FC has been “guaranteed” of promotion regardless of the results of the party, supposedly through the influence within the NFF. If these rumors are justified, it would mean that the super eight has become less about the competition and more about the best bidder, turning what should be a sporting event in a transactional matter.

Therefore, we ask the NNL leadership and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to act quickly and decisively:

Launch immediate and transparent investigation into these accusations.

Sanction to any official declared guilty of negligence.

Restore the credibility of the Super Eight ensuring that the right and impartial advance.

The credibility of Nigerian football is at stake. Without integrity, sport loses its soul. The NNL must reach this moment and demonstrate that justice still has a place in Nigerian football.
