Armed Man Kills 4 in the Anambra Community

Armed people on Wednesday killed four people in the Ekwulobia and OKO communities, Aguata regional government areas in the State of Anambra.

They also burned vehicles in the attack.

Residents told reporters that the attackers stormed the community in the morning and fired sporadically to force residents to run fast.

Spokesman for the State Police Command, Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the attack.

He, however, said two people were killed in the attack.

Ikenga said: “The security forces led by Anambra police containing the shooting incident in the early hours of the morning July 9, 2025, in Oko and Ekwulobia Flyover, the Aguata Regional Government area.

“The team also demonstrated one of the armed criminals, found an AK-47 rifle, an automatic pumping weapon and four vehicles at the scene when the operators maintain attack operations in the area.

Vehicles found at the scene include the Red Toyota Camry (ENU 58 SC registration), Mercedes-Benz GLK specially colored without number plates, Golden Lexus 330 (ENU 815 AP), and Toyota Highlander Abu (GDD 517 RW).

“Armed criminals without provocate shot indiscriminately under the ecwulobia overpass. As a result, in a quick response, the joint security team involved criminals in a fierce weapon duel.

“Unfortunately, the incident recorded the deaths of two non -suspicious members and burning of the brown Toyota Sienna vehicles allegedly belonging to the Anambra State Vigilante group. Meanwhile, the body of the deceased had been found and stored in a morgue.”
