Armed men kill the police inspector, four more in Kwara

The armed men killed five people, including the police inspector Adejumo Wasiu, in Babanla, in the area of the local government IFELODUN in the state of Kwara.

The head of the public relations of the Kwara State Police, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeymi, confirmed the accident in a declaration on Sunday 10 August 2025.

Ejire-Adeymi said that dozens of armed men who ride the motorcycles invaded Babanla on Friday 8 August, attacking the headquarters of the Division Police and raiding the market.

He said the attackers shot sporadically, killing five people, including inspector Wasiu.

The police spokesman declared that a quick joint response from the police, the Nigerian army staff, the vigilantes and local hunters rejected the attack and started a man’s hunting on a large scale.

On Sunday, the police commissioner of the State of Kwara, Adekimi Ojo, and the DSS director of Kwara visited Babanla for an assessment of security on site.

They met the traditional sovereign, Oba Yusuf Aliyu Arojoye II, in possession of high -level interviews to consolidate peace and strengthen the collaboration between agencies and community security.

The joint delegation visited the key positions, including the market, the police headquarters and the surrounding areas, to ensure that stability was completely restored.

The police commissioner has ordered supported armed patrols, continuous intelligence collection and distribution of specialized tracking teams.
