A diesel tanker rammed a delivery driver to death in Lagos on Wednesday.
General Manager of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, confirmed this in a statement signed by the agency’s Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment, Mr. Taofiq Adebayo.
He said the accident occurred under the Cele Bridge corridor on the Apapa–Oshodi Expressway.
According to him, the truck driver fled the scene.
“Security reports revealed that the tanker, while in motion, violently struck the delivery motorbike, causing the rider to become trapped underneath and die instantly.

“LASTMA personnel stationed along the axis acted quickly, cordoning off and securing the accident site with cones and warning bureaucracy.
“This quick intervention was carried out to prevent a second collision and protect other passengers traveling on the busy toll road.
“The tanker who committed the offense was later detained by LASTMA officers, although the driver fled after realizing the severity of the incident,” the statement said.
