Armed men kill two businessmen from Rapita in Ogun

On Wednesday evening, armed men invaded Ilara, a city in the area of ​​the local government of Imeko-Afon of the state of Ogun, killing two people and abducting a popular businessman identified as Ade Bendel.

The accident, which occurred around 23:00, panicked the quiet border community while the attackers shot sporadically during the attack.

Confirming the accident on Thursday, the traditional sovereign of the city, Oba Mutiu Adedimeji, said that the kidnappers flee through a Bush path in the Republic of Benin, abandoning the victim’s vehicle in Sabe, a city near the border.

“Yes, the accident happened. They kidnapped Hades Buli yesterday (Wednesday) night and killed two people in the attack,” said the monarch at The Punch. “Some people have been able to identify his vehicle in Sabe in the Benin Republic, which means it was the route they took to escape.”

A youth leader in the community, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that armed men followed the businessman to his hotel before opening the fire indiscriminately.

“They started shooting sporadically in the hotel and two people were killed because they were affected by wandering bullets. A woman dependent on the Hen’s Hotel was among those killed in the accident,” he said.

Another resident, simply identified as Hades, said that the shots caused chaos in the city while people climbed on safety. He added that two women suffered injuries after falling into a moat while trying to escape.

“We were listening to gunshots that caused people to panic. Two women brought injuries after they fell into a moat while trying to escape,” he said.

At the time of the presentation of this report, the spokesman for the Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Oditola, said he was still collecting details on the accident.

However, a police officer in the area confirmed the attack but refused to talk about the number of victims.

“The accident occurred but I cannot say the number of victims involved or provide details on the accident,” said the officer.

Ogun’s state police command has not yet issued an official statement on the accident.
