As I established a fashion company after retirement from football – Uchechi Njoku

Former Enyimba International, Nigert and Nepa FC Uchechi Njoku player shared the way he successfully passed from professional football to the launch of a thriving fashion company.

In an exclusive interview with SilverNews.com.ng, the dynamic midfielder, popularly known as Ngolo-Ngolo, revealed that he had founded Uchechi Njoku Ngolo-Ngolo Culture & Fashion Limited after having drawn early inspiration from his mother, who led him to fashion during his adolescence.

By encouraging the Nigerians not to lose hope in their search for success, Njoku underlined the importance of perseverance and to return to society, observing that his philanthropic efforts have contributed to saving several young people from the streets.

“I was already involved in fashion when I was young. I went to my mother’s shop on Azikiwe Road in ABA. Even after football, I would return there to work on agbada clothes. It was then that I realized that there is life after football,” Njoku said.

“After spending some time in Abuja, I worked with the best fashion brands, I played for Enyimba’s power supplies, I moved to Umuaia and later I joined Lagos Nepa. Football gives you a rigorous orientation: he teaches discipline, independence and need to test himself.”

He continued: “The passion and skill for fashion were always in me. I have even tried to promote my education in Italy. Fashion is a profitable industry, especially in a populous country like Nigeria. We have been in this for over ten years now, and we are also managing a fashion school to help remove young people from the streets. Fashion is not just making money – it is to enhance others.”

Njoku expressed gratitude for his progress and revealed plans for an imminent fashion show in Lagos in collaboration with Mercedes-Benz, a move that described as a “milestone” for his brand.

“We are proud to collaborate with Mercedes to host an exclusive fashion show in Lagos. It is a great opportunity to unite the elegance, innovation and African culture on a global scene,” he said. “We thank God for where we are today. Do not miss hope – the future is yours. This is a blessed country.”

Speaking on the recent performances of Super Eagles in Unity Cup and their international friendly against Russia, Njoku applauded the inclusion of players at home, saying that he would raise the local League.

“The inclusion of home players is a great motivation for those who in the Nigerian League. It shows them that their efforts can earn a place in the national team. This inspires professionalism and fuel ambition,” he said.

“The game against Ghana was particularly physical-quolcosa in which players at home excel. They showed their talent and proved to be.”

Finally, Ngolo-Ngolo revealed plans to organize a football match in honor of his deceased father in his hometown of Mbaise.

“My father was a great football lover – a jovial man with a heart full of excellence. We are putting him to rest on 13 and 14 August and we are planning to host a commemorative game in his honor using his old team.”
