In the semi-finals of the men’s five-a-side singles tournament, Abubakar put in an imposing performance, defeating his opponent from Borno by an impressive score of 41-1.

This victory allows him to play the gold medal match against Lagos in the men’s singles. He will also compete in the men’s doubles final against Bayelsa today, Sunday.

Fives, a sport perhaps not very well known, is a handball game played on a court closed on three or four sides.

This is a game in which two or four players use their hands to hit a ball against the walls of the court. The game requires agility, precision and quick reflexes, making it an exciting and challenging sport.

There are different versions of the game, including Eton Fives and Rugby Fives, each with their own unique rules and court layouts.

Team Kano’s participation in the NYG extends beyond the 5th. They also compete in swimming, with events held at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, as well as taekwondo and shooting, both held at the venue’s Multipurpose Hall.

So far, the Kano team has secured one bronze medal in swimming and is looking to add more medals to its tally in several sports.

As the competition progresses, the Kano team remains determined to achieve their goals and take home more medals, showcasing their talent and dedication at the 2024 National Youth Games.
