At the coronation of Oba Owoade as 46th Alaafin, Makinde says “a prince has corrupt some people, he declared himself Alaafin-Elect”

*Urges other principles not to waste time going to court

*’We will continue to follow the right trial to govern Oyo’

Governor Seyi Makinde of the State of Oyo said that his administration “will continue to ensure that the rules of the right trial followed and established” in the government of the southwestern state.
The governor added that his administration would keep a record not to interfere in traditional institutions and also remained impartial in the process of selecting traditional sovereigns.
Makinde declared him on Saturday, during the coronation of Oba Abdulakeem Abimbola Owoade I as 46a Alaafin of Oyo, held at the Olivet Baptist High School, Oyo.
He described the ascension of Oba abimbola as a testimony of the credibility of his administration as a fussy for the right trial, stating that his ascension is also a testimony of the lasting spirit and the resilience of the natives of Oyo.
He said: “I mean congratulations once again to the people of Oyo Kingdom. Your patience and resilience have been repaid and that is why it has become a reality today.
“Some people came to meet me to influence the selection process of the new Alaafin, but the oracle did not really choose their candidates.

“The person who IFA and the people of Oyo have chosen is the person we are witnessing his incorational here today as the 46th Alaafin of Oyo.
“Oyo is one of the oldest civilizations in Yoruba’s history. So when they brought me the first selection process and the person aired to declare himself as Alafin-Elect, I conducted an investigation and I discovered that some people were corrupted.
“Subsequently, I asked my conscience if the Alaafin stool was on sale and I said no, because I can’t defend it in front of my creator.
“Yes, many things have happened since the last Alaafin joined its ancestors, but today we are happy that those problems were solved in the way our ancestors would be happy.
“Today, the people of Oyo State can be proud again of having a new Kabiyesi who represents the interest of our people and that of our ancestors.
“When it comes to keeping traditional institutions, this administration will keep a registration not to interfere with the process. We will be there to see that the right process is followed. We will be impartial, stay on the sidelines, ensuring that the rules are not interrupted on one side or the other.”
Makinde invited Oba Owoade to work hard for Oyo’s progress, ensuring that the state government would continue to play a vital role in guaranteeing the growth and development of the state and the promotion of the Oyo world festival as a cultural heritage of the UNESCO world.
Those who challenge the emergence of the Alaafin in court has equally accused to accept Oba Owoade as a choice of God, who is also supported by the people and the government of the state of Oyo.
He added: “Oyo is a historical city that is a custodian of rich history and tradition and would continue to play a fundamental role in the growth and development of our dear state.
“Here, we have the old Oyo National Park and Unesco recognized the Sango world festival domiciled here in the list of the immaterial cultural heritage of humanity.
“The first special agro-elaboration and agricultural transformation center, as designated by the African development bank, is also here in Fasola, Oyo.

“So, while we celebrate culture and tourism this year during the international tourism summit, our attention will return to the Oyo area while we welcome visitors to all Nigeria and the world to embellish the heritage sites of this area. I know that Kabiyesi is a tourism lover.
“Today is the beginning of the good that would arrive in this area not only under this administration, but also in the future. It does not matter what happens to us as humans, we must not forget our history.
“Let me use this opportunity to solicit the Kabiyesi and the Oyomesi to work together to ensure that the tradition around the Ascent of Kabiyesi remains sacrosanct. Whatever must be done to protect the throne should be done so that the gap that we have experienced in recent years will never occur again.
“And, for those who want to go to court, do not go there to waste time and waste our time too. God has chosen for us. Even people are in support of the choice and government of the state.”

Previously, the representative of the president Bola Tinubu, who is also the Minister of Power, Capo Bayo Adelabu, congratulated Oba Owoade, saying that Alaafin’s throne “is a symbol of cultural pride, unity and the lasting heritage of one of the most powerful African Empans.
By obtaining his welcome speech previously, the Secretary of the State Government (SSG), Prof. Olanike Adeyemo, represented by the Commissioner for the Local Government and the questions of Chieftancy, the head Ademola Ojo, said that the coronation of the abyss Oba marked a significant milestone.
Makinde applauded for his commitment for the promotion of the rich cultural heritage of the state, accusing Oyo’s residents of embracing the day as a celebration of unity and cultural value.
Also in his message of goodwill, Senator Monsurat Sunmonu, former president of the Oyo State Assembly House, expressed the gratitude of all the sons and daughters of Oyo and all the Yoruba people to the governor Makinde, who in his opinion gave up Oyo’s thirst for a new Alafin giving them an OBA that is without potister.
He claimed that the people of Oyo would gather around the new monarch to build the historic city.
In the same way, the senator who represents the central Senatorial district of Oyo, senator Yunus Akintunde, said that Oyo Town witnessed the last time he witnessed the crown of an Alaafin 54 years ago, committing herself that Oyo Sons and Daughter would join Alaafin Owoade to advance the city.
In his acceptance speech, Oba Owoade thanked Makinde for his relentless support for the traditional institution in the state.

He also appreciated the indigenous of Oyo Town both at home and in the diaspora for their unshakable support, encouragement and belief in him towards the rise of the throne of his ancestors.
He asked for shared responsibilities, friendly relationships and units between the communities to encourage a sense of belonging, overcome the challenges and, finally, opening the way to progress, growth and expansion of the economy for the kingdom of Oyo in particular and that of the state in general.
The historical event were the representatives of the governors of the States of Osun and Ondo, the head Kola Adwusi (deputy governor of the state of Osun) and the prince OtusaGun Omojuwa (Chief of Staff of the Governor of the State of Ondo); Wife of the Governor of the State of Oyo, Engr. Tamunominini Makinde; Deputy Governor of the State of Oyo, Barr. Abdulraheem Bayo Lawal; Former deputy governors of the State of Oyo, Ambassador Taofek Arapaja and lawyer Hazeem Gbolarumi; President of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adbo Ogundoyin; Chief of staff of the Governor, Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi and the head of the service, Mrs. Olubunmi Oni.
The event also presented a wide range of traditional sovereigns throughout the country, including Sokooto’s sultan, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar; Oons of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi; Oluwo of iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed ADEWAL AKANBI; Olu of Warri, ogiame Atumwatse III; Osemawe of Ondo Kingdom, Oba (Dr) Victor Kiladejo; Oloro di Oro, Oba Joel Tituloye and dozens of real fathers of Ibadan state areas, Ogbomoso, Ibarapa and Oke Ogun.
There were also Muslim aare of Yorubaland, Edo and Delta States, Alhaji daud Makanjuola; ONA Kakanfo ARE Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams; Former military administrator, Old Oyo and Ogun States, general Oladayo Popola (RTD); Ambassadors of Portugal, Cuba, Brazil and Spain in Nigeria; members of the National Assembly and Captains of Industry, among others.
