A rare gathering of the heavy political weights of Nigeria took place on Saturday when the former vice -president Atiku Abubakar, the former president Olusgun Obasanjo, the vice -president Kashim Shettimo, the former head of the general state Yakubu Gowon (RTD) and many other Nigerians who have converted the Nigerians of Spicco.
The high-profile event, which also aroused the presence of the former governor of the state of Kaduna Nasir El-Roma and the national leader of the party of the people of Nigeria (Nnpp), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, reported a moment of reflection, unity and political nostalgia.
Atiku, who was vice -president under Obasanjo between 1999 and 2007, described Mu’azu as a key figure in the democratic journey of Nigeria. Reflecting on their time in office, Atiku noticed that Mu’azu was decisive in laying the foundations for good governance and economic reforms led by the private sector.
By publishing through its official X management (previously Twitter), Atiku wrote:
“Yesterday, I joined my boss, the former president OlusaGun Obasanjo, former head of state Yakubu Gowon and vice -president Kashim Shettimo, together with many other important Nigerian leaders, in paying homage to Alhaji Ahmadu Adamu Muazu, former governor of the state of Bauchi and once national president of the PDP, who has transformed 70.”
He continued: “As vice -president of Nigeria between 1999 and 2007, I worked with Mu’azu and other governors who served at that time to lay the foundations for good government and economic growth led by the private sector for Nigeria. I used the opportunity to congratulate Mu’azu and I wish him many other years in good health and vitality.”
Although the event was organized to honor Mu’azu, the observers say that the convergence of key political characters, some of whom have been in ideological probability in recent years, can suggest a dialogue behind the scenes or alignments in view of the general elections of 2027.
Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, who ruled the state of Bauchi between 1999 and 2007, later became national president of the Democratic Party of people (PDP) in 2014, playing a central role during the party transition phase before the 2015 elections.
The celebration was held between close security and an atmosphere similar to a carnival in Bauchi, with several governors, party leaders, real fathers and members of the diplomatic body.
The Times platform reports that the opportunity was not only as a celebration of the milestone for the PDP leader, but also as a rare opportunity for political leaders through the divisions to reconnect.
