Former Vice President and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 presidential election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has paid a condolence visit to Borno State following the devastating floods that hit Maiduguri last week.
The floods, which occurred after the Alau Dam burst on Tuesday, have so far displaced more than a million people and left more than 50 people missing.

Atiku, who announced his arrival in flood-hit Maiduguri on Sunday in a post via his official account X on Sunday, said he was in the state to commiserate with the flood-affected communities.
“Some time ago, I arrived in Maiduguri to convey my sympathy to the people of Borno State over the recent flood disaster,” he wrote.
“I express my condolences to the government and people of Borno State for the devastating floods that have resulted in loss of lives, destruction of property and displacement of hundreds of thousands of people from their homes.
“You are not alone in this difficult time, and I, on behalf of the family, pledge our full support for the rebuilding efforts.”
