Attacks in Borno: Tinubu’s government kills Nigerians, says Amaechi

Presidential aspirant and former Minister of Transport, Rt Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has accused the President Tinubu-led APC government of persistent failure to protect the lives and properties of Nigerians, describing it as abysmally incompetent and lacking the basic leadership skills needed to protect Nigerians.

In a statement on Tuesday, Amaechi, while commiserating with the families of the victims of Monday night attack in Maiduguri Borno State, said Nigerians cannot continue to mourn and live in fear, while Tinubu and his lackeys at the helm of affairs in the country, live lavishly and ostentatiously while failing to take decisive action to end the raging insecurity.

He said: “This government is killing Nigerians. I repeat, President Tinubu’s government is killing Nigerians, literally destroying lives. It has failed in the most sacred duty of protecting the lives of the citizens of this country. Monday’s attacks in Maiduguri are not just a tragedy, it is a damning indictment of a leadership that has become complacent, incompetent and indifferent to the suffering and death of Nigerians at the hands of ravaging bandits.

“While families mourn and communities live in fear, those in power make empty statements and make empty promises. In fact now, they no longer bother to make promises. They carry on as if nothing had happened. Tinubu would rather dine and party in London while Nigeria burns. They don’t care!”

“How many more lives will have to be lost before it admits its failure? How many more communities will have to be shattered and destroyed before decisive action is taken? Insecurity has become the daily reality of ordinary citizens, yet the government continues to stumble, unprepared and unwilling to address the threat with the seriousness it demands.”

“Nigerians deserve security, peace and dignity, not neglect and constant excuses. If those in power cannot provide that, then they have no right to cling to authority. Leadership is not a matter of rhetoric, but of responsibility, action and making the right decisions for the good of the people. At this moment, this government has abandoned that responsibility and the nation is paying the price,” Amaechi said.

He empathized with the people of Borno State, the victims of the attacks and their innocent families “whose lives have been destroyed due to the failure of the Tinubu government to protect them”, adding that enough is enough and that President Tinubu should resign as he has woefully failed to fulfill his fundamental responsibility of protecting the lives and properties of Nigerians.

Amaechi reminded the government that the people will not be silenced, nor will they accept to live in constant fear. “One day, the people will rise up and resist incompetence, claim their right to live in peace and security. Only then will the government realize that the voice of the people is louder than bombs and failed leadership.”
