The governor of the State of Borno, prof. Babagana Zulum, described the deceased Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, as one of the best monarchs whose contributions helped in the socio-economic development of the country.
Governor Zulum said it when he led the state delegation in a visit of condolences to the governor Dapo Inhabitun and two children of the late Awujale at the governor’s office, Oke-Mosan, Abokuta, Tuesday.
He said that the disappearance of the venerated OBA was not only a great loss for the state of Ogun, but also for the government and the people of the state of Borno, since the personality and dignity of the Awujale have never been in doubt.
He said: “The relationship with the people of Borno and the entire people of southwestern Nigeria cannot be emphasized. We have many common elements in terms of traditions, culture and much more.
“We cannot sit down at home and commission with the government and the people of Ogun’s state on the phone; that’s why we decided to come.
“The Awujale was a good man. There is nothing that we can say in addition to wishing him well, and his family can find the fortress to endure this irreparable loss.”
He recognized the efforts of the governor inhabitaun in the construction of bridges of units through political and ethnic divisions through visits to various regions of the country.
By responding, Governor inhabituing observed that the sovereign of Ijebuland was a man who lived a life of principle, integrity and dedication to the people he served.
According to the governor, the late OBA Adeetona, through his equipment with the followers of all religions, brought the religious harmony to ijebuland and dealt with all his subjects in the same way.
“It was so principle that he would call a spade a spade and it was so until the end. Kabiyesi was a great man; he meant something for everyone. He was a father for each of his subjects,” he said.
While appreciating the governor of the Borno state for having dedicated time to visit the State, the governor inhabitants revealed that Prof. Zulum was the first person who informed the death of Awujale while they were in London to see the deceased president Muhammadu Buhari.
“I am deeply touched by your gesture. I can’t find enough words to describe how I am moved by your very human gesture.
“You showed me dedication and compassion. This has shown that you are connected to us in the state of Ogun. Ogun and Borno have a lot in common in terms of history and tradition.
“You felt that you were the duty to come and commise with us, and this is nothing more than a rare gesture of love, compassion and brotherhood; for this reason, thank you,” added the governor.
In his observations, OBA Adeetona’s first child, the Prince adhesive Adeetona, expressed surprise in terms of recognition that his father’s death received in the country, observing that the visit of the Borno State delegation was an indication that the Nigerians are with the family during this trial period.
He appreciated the Governor inhaboun and his government for having given his father a well -buried burial and the people of the state of Ogun for their love show.
