Armed bandits have killed three people in the state of Katsina.
Spokesman for the State Police Command, Abubakar Aliyu, confirmed the incident in a statement on Wednesday in Katsina.
He said the operators also saved 28 people who were kidnapped in the Sabuwa Regional Government in the state.
“On July 29, at 9:24 in the morning, a tribal call was received from a good Samaritan that some people suspected of being bandits with dangerous weapons blocking the path of Sabuwa-Cayerdomy by Inono Junction, in the area, and kidnapped about 14 people.
“When the report was accepted, the DPO immediately mobilized the operator to the scene. The battle of weapons ensued, and the kidnappers who were suspected of escaping from the scene due to superior tactics and firing from police operations.
“The team managed to save all 14 victims who were kidnapped without injury; but unfortunately, the bandits shot and killed one person identified as ABBA from Funtua LGA.

“Likewise, on July 28, at 11:27 at night, a tribal call was received in the same Sabuwa Division, which was suspected to be bandits with dangerous weapons attacking Zagazagi Village, and kidnapped several residents.
“The DPO quickly mobilizes and responds to the scene, and involves the bandits in a weapon duel, and thwart the attack.
“The team managed to save 14 kidnapped victims and found two fights.
“Unfortunately, the bandits shot and killed two people during the attack.”
The spokesman said the effort had been intensified to arrest the suspect who escaped.
