Barcelona restores Ter Stegen as captain

The saga that involves Barcelona and Marc-Andre Ter Stegen has taken several turns on Friday, and now a friendly resolution has been reached between the two parts after the developments in the last 24 hours.

On Thursday, Barcelona confirmed that they had opened disciplinary procedures against Ter Stegen as a result that he refused to sign the medical document that the club intended to move on to the league with respect to their surgery. Because of this, he was also stripped of the captaincy.

Barcelona has been trying to use 80% of Ter Stegen’s salary to register Joan García, with his belief that the 33 -year -old will be out of action for more than four months after a back injury. The player initially refused, but now he has yielded.

According to an official statement (through Spain football), Barcelona has confirmed that Ter Stegen has now signed the documentation he asked. As a result, disciplinary procedures have ended, and has now been re -elected as a club captain.

“FC Barcelona reports that Marc-André Ter Stegen has signed the authorization for the medical services of the club to process the mandatory medical report in the league after its surgery. The disciplinary archive is closed and the player recovers the captaincy of the first team with immediate effect.”

Earlier on Friday, Ter Stegen issued a statement in which he hinted at his desire to appease Barcelona’s wishes to sign the necessary documentation, and now he has done so. All parties can now leave this behind, hoping that relationships can be restored in the coming weeks.

The League can now sign Ter Stegen’s absence in more than four months, which would allow Barcelona to register Joan García instead. Together with the imminent movement of Inigo Martínez to Al-Nassr, the Catalans should be able to register several players in time for the opening accessory next week against Mallorca.
