Bauchi Gov Builds a Committee to handle farmers’ clashes

Following a series of clashes of violence between farmers and shepherd in the Darazo Regional Government in the State of Bauchi, Governor of Bala Mohammed has formed a land allocation committee aimed at overcoming the root causes of conflict and promoting lasting peace.

Governor Mohammed made an announcement on Sundays during a high level of involvement with stakeholders, including community leaders, security institutions, and affected community representatives.

Describe the conflict as “complex but can be resolved,” the Governor recognizes a deep tension between the two groups and reaffirms the commitment of the state government to the coexistence and peaceful justice.

“To solve this problem in a sustainable manner, we established a land allocation committee consisting of relevant land officers and stakeholders,” he said. “This committee will oversee the allocation of land and ensure that the rights of all parties are protected and respected.”

The decision took part in repeated clashes in Darazo LGA, which had caused injuries on both sides and increased tensions in the region. Governor Mohammed condemned violence in strong terms, urged restraint and dialogue rather than confrontation.

“I ask all parties to remain calm. Violence is not a solution. We must gather and respect the existence of each other,” he said.

The governor convinces the population that administration will intensify mediation efforts while strengthening collaboration with traditional authorities and local leaders to facilitate the resolution of long -term conflicts.

“We will cooperate with the district head, community leader, and all stakeholders to find lasting solutions. This is not just about land – this is about life, livelihoods, and peace of our community,” he stressed.

Governor Mohammed further warned that the government would not hesitate to take firm action against individuals or groups who incite riots.

“We will not tolerate the details of the law and order. Anyone who gets a mistake because undermining peace will face full legal weight,” he said.

The land allocation committee is expected to start working immediately, with a mandate to conduct a transparent assessment, involve the dispute, and recommend a fair land distribution policy that is adjusted to the reality of the region.
