The Bayelsa state government has canceled the suspension of the most important rulers of the Ikebiri community in the South Ijaw regional government of the state, Francis Odudu.
The new monarch was suspended by several members of the community who cared.
Deputy Governor of the State, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, made a declaration at a meeting with several stakeholders and two parties that disagree in the community on Tuesday in Yenagoa.
He showed that the law of the head of Bayelsa did not empower every individual or group of people to suspend or depose any traditional rulers in the state.
EWHRUDJAKO said: “Only the Governor has legal authority to delete traditional authorities after the fulfillment of the requirements as determined in the Law of the State Principal.
“We have heard from all of you, and as I said before, our intention is not political.
“I want to clarify that the law of the Bayelsa Chiefs does not empower anyone to remove the most important rulers who have been recognized and brought by the government.

“The only thing you can do if you are very worried is to submit a petition to the most important authorities to the Governor.
“The governor will establish a panel to investigate the accusation, hear from the head and if he is found guilty, then the governor will issue staff from him.
“So, so far, the suspension that you do or pronounce is null and void.
“You do not have the right to suspend it. However, you have a case against it, so we have to hear you and your head.
“Meanwhile, no one has to make a radio announcement.
“Everyone who does that will face the government, and you know what it means to face the government.”
