The chief Chekwube Uzoegbo (Eze-Chinechendo), CEO of the group of Chekas and owner of the Chekas United Football Club, Lagos, is a man of few words but a remarkable impact. His dedication and the unwavering support for the development of basic football have earned him the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award from the Badagry Divisional Football Association (BDFA), in honor of one of his esteemed ambassadors.
Over the years, the chief Chekwubbe has made his mission to return to the youth of the Badagry division through the Chekas Kids Cup: a basic football tournament that is aimed at Under 10, under 13 and the under 15 categories during the summer holidays. This initiative has positively influenced over 10,000 children within the division, offering them the opportunity to develop their talents in a structured and support environment.
In February 2024, the chief Chekwubbe also demonstrated his commitment by sponsoring the logistics for his visit to foreign experts from the United States. These experts conducted a coaching program of the 3D institute for over 200 local coaches, further improving the technical capacity of football development in the region.
A businessman and consolidated philanthropist, the chief Uzoegbo, has constantly channeled his resources towards the growth of football in the Badagry division and the state of Lagos in general. His altruistic contributions inspired many and created paths for young talents to be thrown.
The Lifetime Achievement Award will be formally assigned to him during the BDFA-Rak finals, which is expected to hold the Badagry Grammar School sports field on June 15, 2025.
According to dr. Osondu Martins Ibegbu, president of the BDFA, “this honor conferred on the leader Chekwuba Uzoegbo is not only deserved, but a significant recognition of his dedication to the development of football in Badagry. Our children are now constructively engaged during the holidays and parents are filled with joy, all thanks to the chekas children for unpanished children.
He continued: “The BDFA has obtained national recognition because of individuals such as the chief Chekwube, who believe in our vision and are next to us at every step”.
On behalf of the board of directors, coaches, referees, club owners and players who are passionate about the Badagry Divisional Football Association, let’s say a heartfelt thanks to the chief Chekwube Uzoegbo for his continuous support and commitment to view the BDFA.
