Breaking: At last, DSS releases ex-EFCC boss, Bawa

The Department of State Service (DSS) has reportedly released embattled former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa, after over spending 134 days in custody.

Blueprint reports that Bawa was arrested by the DSS operatives on June 14, 2023, hours after his suspension from office as EFCC Chairman by President Bola Tinubu over alleged abuse of office.

Since his arrest and detention, the Secret Police didn’t formally prefer any charge against him or say his specific offence.

A trending video on Wednesday night appear to show that Bawa has been released from detention and reunited with family members and friends.

As at the time of filling this report, DSS was yet to confirm the development.
