Michelle Ibidapo, a 13 -year -old swimmer and a student at the Grange School, Iikeja, has won money in the 1,500m female style at the Ogun 2024 National Sports Festival, representing the Oyo team.
Previously discovered in the National Games of Youth (NYG) in Asaba, Michelle has quickly progressed through the National Sports System to be on the podium in the largest multisport event in Nigeria.

Speaking with Sports247 after his victory, he reflected on his preparation and mentality: “Upon entering this competition, he was concentrated.
I had my mind to win a medal, although I was not sure what color. During the last lap, I reminded myself to keep me focused, and in the end, it became gold. “
His performance in Shagamu highlights the success of the youth games in the discovery of talents, as well as the growing opportunities for young athletes such as Michelle to develop and compete at higher levels.
“What I have achieved today is just a beginning. My dream is to represent Nigeria at the Olympic Games one day, and I think that with hard work, gold is also possible there,” he said.
