Breaking News: Lamurde placed under 24-hour curfew as violence erupts again in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Government has introduced a 24-hour curfew in Lamurde Local Government Area following fresh outbreaks of violence reported in several communities.

The directive was announced by Ahmadu Fintiri, governor of the state, through a statement released in Yola by his head of press office, Humwashi Wonosikou.

According to the statement, the measure became necessary after new clashes disrupted peace in the area and caused the death of some residents.

Governor Fintiri condemned the violence and instructed security agencies to enforce uncompromising restrictions to restore calm.

The statement warns that anyone who disobeys the curfew order will risk arrest and legal consequences.

Authorities said the restriction will remain in place until the security situation improves and normality is restored in the affected communities.

Security operatives have also been directed to intensify patrols and ensure strict law and order enforcement while maintaining law and order throughout the local government area.

The governor appealed to residents to cooperate with security agencies and provide useful information that can help identify those responsible for the riots.

He reiterated the state government’s commitment to safeguard lives and property and stressed that acts that threaten peace will not be tolerated.

Lamurde had previously experienced similar tensions, prompting the state government to impose a curfew in December 2025 after clashes involving members of the Bachama community.
