The newest sports sensation of Nigeria, Adefunke Ageniforo, is on the verge of missing the World Armwrestling and Par-Armwrestling championships currently current in Albena, Bulgaria (from September 10 to 22, 2025), despite ensuring its visa and promoting the continent with its recent heroic.
The 21 -year -old athlete, who comes from the state of Oyo, became the talk of Africa in the 14th Armwreestling Championship African in Abuja, where fans surprised by dethroning the long -standing African champion Data Olaleye Mariee de Benin Republic in the category of 60 kg of young women.

His remarkable debut instantly marked as one of the fastest forces in Armwestling African.

But his dream is now at risk. With only remaining days before his scheduled fighting in Bulgaria, Apheniforo is stranded due to the lack of funds to cover flights, accommodation and logistics of the competition.
“I have my visa, I have trained hard and I am ready to fight for Nigeria. But without help, I cannot travel. It will be a heartbreaking to lose this opportunity after all my sacrifice,” said Ageniforo.
This urgent attraction goes to the Nigeria Armwrestling Federation (NAF), the government of the state of Oyo, the philanthropists, the corporate organisms and the Nigerians who love sports to intervene immediately.
It will be remembered that the National Sports Commission raised the fund to support the Federation for the cozy of the newly completed Africa Championship in Abuja.
The world championship is not just about medals: it is a crucial path for world classification and qualification, and lost Nigeria a valuable land before the All-Africa 2027 games in Egypt.
Unless fast measures are taken, Nigeria runs the risk of losing the opportunity to see their last revelation, a symbol of youthful strength and resistance, compete and shine on the world stage.
