A British soldier based in an army barracks in Kenya has been arrested for being suspected of rape.
The alleged attack occurred last month after a group of soldiers visited a bar in the city of Nanyuki, close to the cough camp (British army training unit Kenya).
Investigations are being carried out by a serious defense command command, which investigates serious crimes allegedly committed by British soldiers and women in the UK and abroad.
Military police have questioned the bar owner along with security guards on duty on the night of the incident, according to The Sunday TimesThe first to report the accusation.
According to the newspaper, the bar owner said: “They [the soldiers] Like this place and when I met some of them in the supermarket, they told me that they had been prohibited from coming here.
“Sometimes they are too drunk and I drop it at the gate for free.”
A spokesman for the Ministry of Defense said: “We can confirm the arrest of a service in Kenya.
“Because this problem is the subject of an inceeding investigation by the Defense Crime Command, we will not comment further.”
They added: “All soldiers who visit or train in coughs have a clear direction on how to behave, live and not work, must complete compulsory training and attend compulsory briefings about behavior. We will not have tolerance for unacceptable behavior.
“To ensure the highest as possible standards, the Army has launched a comprehensive service investigation of accusations of behavior that cannot be accepted by British service personnel in Kenya who will violate the MOD and Army policies.”

Last year’s army launched an investigation of the behavior of the British troops posted at the base after the accusation of the army, including the involvement The murder of a woman in 2012.
Body Agnes Wanjiru who is 21 years oldA mother of one, was found in a septic tank at the Lions Court Hotel in Nanyuki two months after she disappeared in March 2012.
According to the investigation by The Sunday Times, a British soldier accused of murder was named by his colleagues after he allegedly claimed to be the murder.
An examination found that MS Wanjiru sex workers were killed illegally and the post-mortem examination concluded that he had died from the sound of a stab in his chest and stomach.
Defense Minister John Healey met his family in April during a visit to Kenya.
The British army has an agreement with Kenya to mobilize up to six battalions a year for training.
