Calafiori’s own goal gives Spain victory over Italy

Spain has booked a place in the round of 16 of Euro 2024 after defeating Italy 1-0 on Thursday.

An own goal by Italian Riccardo Calafiori in the 55th minute gave Spain victory in the first clash of international heavyweights in this Euro Cup.

Three-time winners Spain completely dominated the Group B match at Gelsenkirchen’s Veltins Arena, and 16-year-old winger Lamine Yamal further enhanced his reputation as one of football’s most exciting young stars with a standout performance.

The victory means Spain leads the group with six points to qualify for the next round, while Italy will hope for a positive result against Croatia in their final match.
