At the weekend press conference, Sky News asked the Prime Minister of Canada what lessons he had learned from Brexit that could be applied to his transaction with Donald Trump.
He answered: “Brexit lessons begin to be applied. When you break up, or substantially broken, trade relations with your main trading partners, including the most important trading partners in the United States, you end with slower growth, higher inflation, higher interest rates, volatility, weaker currencies, weaker economies.
“We are in the early stages in the United States, and that is one of the important things here. In connection with influencing the president, in connection with the dynamics of negotiations, America will become weaker as time goes by, we will become stronger.”
