Teenager born in London Carlo Acutis will be the first millennial, almost 20 years after his death.

The teenager, whose Italian family moved to Milan for months after his birth in 1991, dedicated his short life to Catholicism, and died of leukemia in 2006 aged 15.

What does it mean to be a saint?

All Christians were called to become saints, but only a few people were chosen throughout history which was officially recognized as one.

How do you become a saint – and how does Carlo do it?

There are four steps on the road to become a saints:

This process usually starts at least five years after the death of the person.

Carlo’s first miracle was the healing of a boy named Mattheus Vianna, who was born in 2009 in Brazil with a serious birth defect that made him unable to store food in his stomach.

As a young child, he is forced to live with vitamins and shake protein but regularly vomit after eating and cannot gain weight.

Mattheus, according to his founder, touched one of Carlo’s relics in the church and said “stop vomiting” – an action that is said to have healed him.

In February 2014, his family ordered further tests and he was found completely cured, said the priest.

In 2019, the miracle claimed was recognized by the Vatican and confirmed by Pope Francis a few months later, opening the way for Carlo to be limited in 2020.

Stage 4 – Honality

The second miracle is needed to achieve purity.

If verified, candidates can be tricked and make saints. Formal canonization ceremonies in the Vatican follow.

The second miracle in the name of Carlo was a healing reported from a Costa Rika girl who studied in Italy who suffered from a big head trauma.

His mother said that he prayed at Carlo’s grave after the incident, begging his enthusiasm and led to his daughter’s full recovery.

Purity is rare – but not as much as before

It is unknown exactly how many favorite that has been distributed in the history of the Catholic Church, although estimates tend to sit around 10,000.
