Carnival atmosphere while the IMO Super League owners begin in style

It was an atmosphere similar to a carnival of the iconic Osia City stadium, Ngor Okpala, while the inaugural edition of the Super League of the owners of the IMO Club began in style.

The 16 -team tournament, considering the top competition of the club owners in the state of Imo, attracted the Crème cream of the world of sport. Among the dignitaries present were the former African footballer of the year and the Super Eagles coach, Emmanuel Amunike; IMO state commissioner for sport, Hon. Obinna Onyeocha; and the traditional sovereign of the autonomous community of Okpala, Hrh Eze Obinna Eziakonwa (ASAA I of the Autonomous Community of Okpala), together with several other prominent figures.

The colorful opening ceremony presented cultural display and entertainment, giving the tone for weeks of electrifying football actions.

“This is a great time for the development of basic football in the state of imo,” said the coach Emmanuel Amunike. “I am struck by the vision of the Owners Association Club. This is how future champions are discovered.”

IMO state commissioner for sport, Hon. Obinna Onyeocha, described the competition as “a new dawn for sport in imo”. He added: “The governor hopes that the administration of Uzodinma undertakes to support initiatives like this that promote the commitment of young people, the development of talents and peace in our communities”.

The high leader Kachi Attufula, CEO of City Cruz Hotel and president of the Owners Association Club, greeted the enormous turnout and promised an exciting tournament. “We are setting a new standard for football in the state of imo. This league will produce stars that will shine beyond our borders,” he said.

The host and CEO of Osia City Stadium and FC, Hon. Innocent Onwuniko, he expressed his joy of hosting the historic event. “It gives me a great pride to see Ngor okpala becoming the center of football excellence. The Osia City stadium is open to nourish talents and support the growth of sports in IMO and beyond,” he said.

The high head of PMC Okeke, CEO of Ave International Football Club, has urged teams and officials to show sportiness during the competition. “This league is not just about winning; it is a question of building character, friendship and discipline. I encourage all players and officials to be of good behavior during and after the tournament,” he recommended.

In the opening match, the hosts Osia FC were kept 1-1 by Ave International FC. In the second game of the day, the giant beryllari marked Captain Marvel FC 2-1 in a pulsating meeting.

The competition continues today with the acquisition of FC who faces Akonye FC in the first game, while Akokwa United Lock Horns with Amiyi FC in the second appointment. The last clash of the day will see the East Coast FC Assume Black Salt FC in what promises to be a football show under the lights of the Osia City stadium.
