The Central Bank of Nigeria, popularly called (CBN), is the central bank and the Apex monetary authority in Nigeria which was created by the 1958 CBN Act and began its operations on July 1, 1959.

The CBN exercises global control and the administration of policies in the monetary and financial sector of the federal government, the Central Bank also acts as a lender of the last appeal and adviser to the federal government of Nigeria.
