Chan Eagles aims to replicate the success of Super Falcons

The Chan Eagles will return to the African Nations Championship for the first time since 2018.

Nigeria’s best performances in the tournament so far are a bronze medal in 2014 and a silver medal in 2018.

Now, the team hopes to bring the trophy home, as did the Super Falcons, who recently won the African Cup of Nations.

The tournament will take place from February 1 to 28, 2025 in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. With CAF increasing the financial price, this edition is expected to be the largest.

The winner of the tournament will receive $ 3.5 million, while the second place will take $ 1.2 million home and the third place will earn $ 700,000, and the fourth place will get $ 600,000.

The quarterfinals will receive $ 450,000, third -place teams will receive $ 300,000, and those who finish fourth and fifth will get $ 200,000 as participation money.

With seven months for the tournament, the NFF has already organized two friendly matches against Zanzíbar as part of Nigeria’s preparations.

The first game ended in a goalless draw, and both teams will meet again on Thursday.

Nigeria is in group D together with Senegal, Congo and Sudan. The Chan Eagles will begin their campaign against Senegal headlines on August 5.

Three players are expected to stand out in the Chan team, their names are the following:

Nduka Junior Harrison: He is the team captain. The 21 -year -old plays as a center for remars. Nduka captured Revars to the title of the Nigerian League last season.

He was called for the friendly unit against Jamaica and Ghana, but did not play a single minute. Nduka can also be implemented as a left back.

Sadiq Ismaila: currently in the books of the rowing stars, he is a player who has been praised for his attack ability as a back, but has also been analyzed because of his lack of defensive instincts. His attack production compensates for his defensive weaknesses.

Sadiq played the full 90 minutes in both games against Ghana and Jamaica in the Unity Cup. He helped the winning goal against Ghana in the semifinal.

Henry Ozoemena-the 24-year-old is expected to be the titular goalkeeper of the Chan Eagles. He currently plays for Enyimba. Henry is a good shot with experience in the African continent.

He thought for Enyimba at the Caf Confederation Cup last season. His ability to keep the ball out of the network will be crucial in the tournament.
