Chukwueze defends AC Milan move, rejects Saudi Arabian fees to prove himself in Europe

AC Milan winger Samuel Chukwueze has confirmed he has no regrets about joining the Italian giants, despite receiving a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia last summer.

The winger joined Milan from Spanish club Villarreal last July after a five-year spell in La Liga.

Chukwueze, 25, revealed that his agent had offered him a significant financial deal with a Saudi Arabian club but he turned it down in a bid to prove his worth in Europe.

“If money was a problem, I would have signed for Saudi Arabia. They have wanted me for a year,” Chukwueze told Football Italia.

“My mind was only set on Milan. My agent told me: ‘Look, there’s the money…’. But I told him no: ‘I don’t want to go anywhere else’.”

The winger had a difficult first season with the Rossoneri, scoring just once in 24 league appearances.

However, he has shown promise in preseason, recording two assists and one goal in four games.

Chukwueze remains determined to establish himself at Milan and says: “The most important thing now is to believe in myself; I am still young, I want to succeed, I need to stay in Europe.”
