Clerico Condenere Benue Killings, says it is an ethnic cleaning

Makurdi (basic reporter) annoyed by what he defined the inaction of the government to stop the murderous murders in the state of Benue, a cleric, evangelist Shaala Ukaa on Monday 21 April, condemned in strong terms, the “massacre in progress” in the state, labeling a deliberate campaign of ethnic cleaning.

In a declaration made available to basic journalists, he said that unbridled murders in Benue’s state are not random violence, but an attempt calculated to erase a people from the face of the earth and have invited the government and the international community to rise to the challenges.

“What is happening in Benue is not random violence. It is a calculated attempt to erase a people – an indigenous heritage – offering the face of this nation.” “And to this, let’s say: it’s enough enough.”

He explained that for years, the Pastors Fulani have triggered brutal and systematic attacks among the communities of Benue. “What some have described as” clashes “are, in fact, the organized massacres aimed at moving indigenous populations, destroying the agricultural means of subsistence and breaking cultural continuity”.

“Entire communities: Guma, Logo, Ukum, Kwande, Katsina-Ala, Agatu and others have been transformed into war zones. The fields once rich in crops are now in the blood.” It is not just about land. It concerns domain and destruction “, underlined Ukaa, saying” this is genocide in slow motion “.

The evangelist Ukaa also indicated similar models of violence in some parts of the state of the plateau, affirming: “The fire of this terror is not limited to the only Benue. Altopiano also brought his scars. But Benue remains the epicenter of this national tragedy”.

He reminded the Nigerians the critical and often neglected role that Benue’s people played as the country holds together during the civil war.

“We stood as a Shield When the Nation was on the Brink of Collapse. We Bled to Keep Nigeria United. Yet, for 26 years of Democratic rule, we have Seen Nothing, but Neglect. Our Roads Are Death Traps. The Abuja-Makurdi Road Has Been Turned Into A Corridor of Suffering, Lined with Four Toll Gates that Exploit Our People Dailyβ€”While The North Enjoys Well-Constructed Roads Without Schout Burdens.

He denounced the government’s inability to respond with a decisive action, calling it a “betrayal of constitutional responsibility and a stain on the consciousness of our leadership”.

“The silence in the face of this evil is the complicity. The blood of our people is in the hands of those who have chosen the inaction on justice.”

The evangelist Ukaa asked for an immediate end of violence, the pursuit of the authors and an international investigation of atrocities. He appealed to the bodies for human rights, leaders of the global faith and international media to recognize and respond to current ethnic cleaning.

He revealed that in response to the devastation, Benue’s churches and communities are organizing solemn assemblies, fasting and corporate prayer.

“We will not be broken. We will pray like Neemia, we shout like David and ask for justice as Elia. Heaven will listen to us.”

Basic journalists report that the evangelist Ukaa urged the sovereigns and traditional priests to raise spiritual altars of intercession and unity.
