The 12 Nigerian Brigade Army showed the military commitment to the development of the community restoring a source of vital water in the Lokongoma community, Lokoja, in the state of Kogi.
Our correspondent reports that the Lokongoma community hosts the guest house of 12 brigades commanders.
Under the guidance of the Brigadier Commander General Kasim Sidi, the brigade successfully revived a previously non -functional well, providing relief to residents who had fought with the scarcity of water for years.
The well, which was out of service for some time, was a source of vital water for residents in the area.
Our correspondent also reports that the Lokongoma community has faced significant challenges due to the lack of clean water, which is essential for daily life.
Recognizing the difficulties faced by the residents, the commander directed the rapid repair and restoration of the well.
Military intervention has not only addressed the water needs of the community, but also demonstrated its commitment to support its host communities.
The played well was officially delivered to the community on April 14, 2025, marking a significant milestone in the support initiative of the military community.
In his brief observations to the delivery ceremony, the commander, who was represented by the maintenance officer of the canton, Major Nathaniel Yakubu, said that the intervention led to the very necessary residents.
According to him, the residents now enjoy a renewed access to a constant and safe water supply.
The commander stressed that the initiative should facilitate people’s daily burden and encourage stronger ties between the military and the host community.
“The command remains committed to supporting its host communities and promoting civil-military cooperation through significant awareness efforts that improve local well-being,” he said.
In his observations, the head Okpanachi Nicholas, the leader of the community, deeply expressed appreciation for the army gesture, describing it as timely and of great impact.
He observed that the initiative would have done a lot to facilitate the daily burden of the people and promote stronger links between the military and the host community.
Nicholas stressed that the initiative reflects the positive impact of the support initiative of the military community.
Our correspondent also reports that the successful resuscitation of the well in the lokongoma is a testimony of the dedication of the army to the development of the community and its efforts to build stronger relationships with the communities that serves.
